Does "[insert Cabinet position here]"-designate mean anything?
With the flurry of recent Biden administration picks, we're seeing a lot of changes to the articles of prospective cabinet-level appointees along the lines of "X is the [position]-designate". Do people know: (1) if there are RS that are using this phrase (I haven't seen any so far); and/or (2) if this is a real thing in federal law? AFAIK, you are either the Secretary of X or the nominee to be Secretary of X, neither of which would be possible for a prospective Biden Cabinet member since he can't officially/legally nominate anyone until January. Being the designated Secretary of X doesn't seem like it means much, at least to my knowledge. AleatoryPonderings (???) (!!!) 22:35, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

Is this article within the scope of the project
See SSA impersonation scam, currently in the process of adding it to wikiprojects and this is a very common scam targeted at US citizens - but different to the examples of articles I've seen in the project so far. Would be glad for advice. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 21:30, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- I added it to this WikiProject, seeing as IRS impersonation scam is a similar article under this WikiProject. WikiProject USA is very broad, so its usually helpful to look at related articles to see their WikiProjects for guidance. JackFromReedsburg (talk | contribs) 21:53, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Question about the scope of Category:Armenian emigrants to the United States
On Category talk:Armenian emigrants to the United States there is a question on whether "Armenian emigrants to the United States" should refer to people from the modern polity of Armenia (1918-today) or whether it should include ethnic Armenians of other citizenships (including the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire) WhisperToMe (talk) 06:25, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Territories
I am attempting to revive the territories project, so come stop by and join us if you want to, I know WP:USA used to have some taskforces and workgroups around territories, also should wp:ust become a subproject of wp:usa? Alex the Nerd (talk) 11:02, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- On November 19, 2019 you marked the Puerto Rico talk page with the project you say you are trying to revive. Since then, more than a year later, you haven't made one edit to the article although I'm sure the article could benefit from your contributions.
- In 2015 Jaguar marked thousands of Puerto Rico articles with the WikiProject UST and also did not make one edit for the benefit of the articles.
- As you may or may not know, the WikiProject Puerto Rico, etablished 14 years ago, is quite active. I myself have made thousands upon thousands of edits to PR articles. So before you start marking all articles of fat people on Wikipedia with WikiProject Fat People, we know Puerto Rico is a Territory of the US, have a talk with your project members and consider how you will assist in improving the articles. Merely marking the article with a Project is not helping. --The Eloquent Peasant (talk) 11:51, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Missing article: Municipalities of the United States
A recent discussion and table at Talk:Gmina#Requested_move_7_December_2020 revealed that US is the only major country with no article or even redirect for the 'municipalities of/in Fooland'. Perhaps someone here would like to remedy this? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:57, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
