Usage

The {{WikiProject Television}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner.

General parameters:

• small – this parameter is no longer supported and can safely be removed from the template.
• class – valid values are fa, a, ga, b, c, start, stub, fl, list, na (case-insensitive). See the project's quality scale for details.
• importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the project's importance scale for details.
• auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:
  • |auto=length – based on the length of the article
  • |auto=inherit – because one or more other projects use this class
  • |auto=yes (or |auto=stub), in conjunction with |class=stub – as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template
    • Use of the above values (or value combinations) with this parameter populates Category:Automatically assessed television articles.
• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles without infoboxes.
• needs-refs – set |needs-refs=yes if the article requires an additional references.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles needing references.
• needs-image – set |needs-image=yes if the article requires an image.
  • This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia requested television images.
• needs-production – set |needs-production=yes if the article requires a production section.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles that need a production section.
• needs-character – set |needs-character=yes if the article requires a character or cast section.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles that need a character section.
• needs-response – set |needs-response=yes if the article requires a response section.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles that need a response section.
• needs-episode-list – set |needs-episode-list=yes if the article requires an episode list.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles that need an episode list.
• needs-synopsis – set |needs-synopsis=yes if the article requires a plot summary.
  • This parameter populates Category:Television articles that need a synopsis.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Task forces:

• the-amazing-race – set |the-amazing-race=yes if the article is supported by The Amazing Race task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:The Amazing Race task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:The Amazing Race articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • the-amazing-race-importance (only used if |the-amazing-race=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within The Amazing Race task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:The Amazing Race articles by importance.
• desperate-housewives – set |desperate-housewives=yes if the article is supported by the Desperate Housewives task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Desperate Housewives task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Desperate Housewives articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • desperate-housewives-importance (only used if |desperate-housewives=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Desperate Housewives task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Desperate Housewives articles by importance.
• law-&-order – set |law-&-order=yes if the article is supported by the Law & Order task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Law & Order task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Law & Order articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • law-&-order-importance (only used if |law-&-order=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Law & Order task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Law & Order articles by importance.
• ER – set |ER=yes if the article is supported by the ER task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:ER task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:ER articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • ER-importance (only used if |ER=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the ER task force
    • This importance rating populates the relevant subcategory of Category:ER articles by importance.
• avatar – set |avatar=yes if the article is supported by the Avatar: The Last Airbender task force.
  • This parameter populates Category:Avatar: The Last Airbender task force articles, and the relevant subcategory of Category:Avatar: The Last Airbender articles by quality based upon the |class= parameter.
  • avatar-importance (only used if |avatar=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Avatar: The Last Airbender task force

• arrowverse – set |arrowverse=yes if the article is supported by Arrowverse task force.

• glee – set |glee=yes if the article is supported by the Glee task force.

• reality-tv – set |reality-tv=yes if the article is supported by the Reality television task force.

• beat – set |beat=yes if the article is supported by the Broadcast engineering and technology task force.

  • beat-importance (only used if |beat=yes is set; uses the same values as |importance=) – Importance rating within the Broadcast engineering and technology task force

To avoid needlessly cluttering up talk pages, it is usually appropriate to remove any unused parameters from the template.
