It is part of the [[York County School Division]]. The school opened in 1972 and is located near the site of the first land battle of the [[US Civil War]] [[Battle of Big Bethel]]. Athletic teams compete in the Virginia High School League's AA [[AA Bay Rivers District\|Bay Rivers District]] in [[AA Region I\|Region I]]. Historically, Tabb High School was known for its football program, which was dominant in the early 1990's and produced two players for the [[NFL]]. Currently Tabb High has employed rather strange staff one including a 6ft mishapen "Linebacker" or "Dentface" named Miss Whitt, whos head looks like a misshapen cantaloupe. The other is the new principle Laura Abel whos head also rests only on her shoulders with no neck. Both teachers are hated throughout the 2007 class mainly for being replacements and sucking at their job.
