The EX postcode area, also known as the Exeter postcode area, is a group of 33 postcode districts in England, which are subdivisions of 30 post towns: Exeter, Barnstaple, Axminster, Beaworthy, Bideford, Braunton, Budleigh Salterton, Chulmleigh, Colyton, Crediton, Cullompton, Dawlish, Exmouth, Holsworthy, Honiton, Ilfracombe, Lynmouth, Lynton, North Tawton, Okehampton, Ottery St Mary, Seaton, Sidmouth, South Molton, Tiverton, Torrington, Umberleigh, Winkleigh, Woolacombe and Bude. These cover north and east Devon plus the northernmost corner of Cornwall.
Districts are arranged in three geographical series, with one anomaly: EX24 which was added to the last of the 20s series in the east of the area. EX1 to EX12 cluster in the south-east including Exeter. From north of EX12 on the east coast a belt runs east to west coast to form EX13 to EX23; numbering after the anomalous placement of EX24 resumes for the third series of EX31 and 32 which use central Barnstaple as their divide and around them clockwise from WNW to WSW are EX33 to 39.
