"Conflicts of Interest" is an episode from the fourth season of the science fiction television series Babylon 5.
Garibaldi continues to work as a private detective after resigning from Babylon 5. Sheridan orders Zack to have Garibaldi turn in his Link and weapons as per regulations, something Garibaldi does with extreme resentment. Garibaldi is later approached by Wade, one of the men that deal in black market deals, asking for Garibaldi's help to bring a passenger soon to arrive on the station aboard without papers, which Garibaldi agrees. When the passenger ship arrives, Garibaldi uses backdoor access codes to access the arrival bay. Wade informs him their original contact had to back off but his wife was sent instead, and Garibaldi quickly recognizes their contact as Lise, his former lover when he was stationed at Mars, who he left to take the position on Babylon 5. After clearing her out of security, Garibaldi and Lise have a lengthy discussion, and Garibaldi learns that Lise is now married to William Edgars, the wealthiest man on Mars that owns half of the colony. Meanwhile, Zack discovers Garibaldi's backdoor codes, and deactivates them.
Garibaldi, Lise, and Wade go to meet a contact in Downbelow. Their contact provides them with a secured vessel containing a vial, which the man says is a serum that is only effective on telepaths, rendering them ineffectual. The group is suddenly attacked by two men, and Garibaldi rushes them to safety but soon finds his codes no longer working. He helps Wade and Lise into the vents, and is surprised to see the men seem to know exactly how to follow them. He instructs Wade and Lise to think about making their way to a shuttle bay, which he believe will be picked up by the two men he recognizes as telepaths. Instead, Garibaldi uses an alternate exit, making sure Wade and Lise can get free, and then informs a security officer about the two men. Zack and security arrive at the shuttle bay, but the two men bite down on cyanide capsules and die. Sheridan berates Garibaldi for his actions but realizes there is little he can do since Garibaldi is no longer on security. Later, Garibaldi is contacted by Edgar, who thanks him for protecting Lise, and offers him travel to Mars to talk about further job opportunities.
Meanwhile, Ivanova works to get the "Voice of the Resistance" broadcast going, turning to help from the excess power from the Great Machine on Epsilon III to help boost the signal's range. Sheridan talks to Ambassadors Mollari and G'Kar about his plan to deploy the Rangers and White Stars along the borders of non-aligned worlds that are being attacked by raiders and other forces. Both warn him that the non-aligned worlds may see this move as hostile and a power grab, but Sheridan counters by asking if both Centauri and Narn would allow his patrols along their borders as a sign of good faith to the other races. He urges that they need to work together to reach a common good now that the war is over.
- Garibaldi begins to work for William Edgars. In the process Garibaldi is reintroduced to his ex-girlfriend, Lise, who is currently married to Edgars.
- The "Voice of the Resistance" airs for the first time, anchored by Ivanova.
